You raised theft from vehicles as a concern, so here’s a quick local update. We would like to make you aware of a theft of a motor vehicle that occurred in N3 Area.
Please take a few moments to review the following crime prevention advice to help protect your vehicle and belongings.
Items left on display can attract opportunistic theft, and offenders may target vehicles where property is clearly visible.
- During the incident a suspect has gain entry to the parked vehicle through the rear window and stole a parcel shelf.
To reduce the risk of theft, please consider the following advice:
• Remove parcels from your vehicle as soon as possible
• Do not leave items on the parcel shelf or in view
• Place belongings in the boot before you reach your destination
• Lock your vehicle and ensure windows are fully closed
• Park in a well-lit area where possible
Car Badges:🏎️
• Park in well lit areas — Thieves are less likely to target vehicles where they can be easily seen.
• Use CCTV or video doorbells — Visible cameras act as a strong deterrent and can help identify suspects.
• Install anti tamper screws — Some badges can be secured with specialist screws that make removal much more difficult.
• Park defensively — Position the front of your vehicle close to a wall, hedge, or barrier to reduce access to the badge.
• Mark your vehicle parts with DNA kits — Property marking kits can be used on car badges and other parts. Once registered, the unique code links the item to you, helping police identify stolen property and return it.
• Use anti-tamper screws: These make it much harder for plates to be removed quickly.
• Park in well-lit, busy areas: Offenders are less likely to target vehicles in visible locations.
• Consider CCTV or doorbell cameras: These can act as a deterrent and help identify offenders.
• Check your plates regularly: Especially if your vehicle has been left unattended for long periods.
• Avoid posting clear images of your number plate online: Criminals can duplicate plates from photos.

Having personal items stolen from your vehicle is an upsetting experience, and we are determined to find and arrest those who break the law. Check that your vehicle is locked and secure every time you leave it. Thieves often look for easy opportunities to steal from vehicles. They will usually try the handles until they get lucky and find one that has been left unlocked. Keep your keys safe, out of view when at home and away from your front door. If you have a keyless entry vehicle, keep the key well away from the vehicle while at home and turn off wireless signals on your fob when it’s not being used. Consider putting the keys in a screened or signal blocking pouch, such as a Faraday Bag and check that it is still working every few months. Remove all items from view by taking them with you or putting them in the boot out of sight. Thieves will look for any items on display. Things like clothes, documents or an old bag might not seem like valuables, but they could still tempt a thief. Ensure you remove all other clues there might be valuables linked to the car, such as phone chargers or sat-nav mounts. Park your vehicle in a private garage if you can. If you do not have access to one, try to park in a well –lit open space. Try to use public car parks that are part of the police approved Park Mark safer parking scheme. Secure your number plates with tamper resistant screws to avoid them being stolen and used by others. We want your help to shape the future of policing across London.
